I’ve been scoring Star Wars books by the armful at Goodwill over the past couple of months and blown through several of them. I have also finished a few games recently. Instead of simply moving on to the next escapist title, I want to reflect a bit on what I’ve devoted my precious hours of free time toward. You may or may not know that I also co-write a music blog called Candied Pop with a couple of guys named James and David. We haven’t exactly been cranking out posts in the last few months but it’s still an active project. Anyway, to top off a busy weekend I went to see Drive-By Truckers at Athfest last night and wrote about it here.
Just like the James Bond, Superman, and TMNT franchises, Groovy Kid Stuff is starting over. Things will be different on GKS from here on out. First of all, it’s not going to be just me writing anymore. My wife Helen will also contribute her efforts. That’s a good thing because she’s a lot more interesting than me. And despite the blog’s name, the emphasis will no longer be on kid stuff. We’re giving in to narcissism and will write about ourselves and the cool things we do. Of course there will be a significant kid angle as our own children, plus the ones I teach, play a huge part in our lives. But basically this will now be a blog documenting our daily existence. We hope you enjoy reading the new and improved Groovy Kid Stuff!
